Burglars break into apartments to steal from Austin businesses, police say

CHICAGO (WLS) -- Burglars broke into apartments in Chicago's Austin neighborhood in order to get into businesses above or below the residences, police said.

Investigators said the suspects cut holes in the floor or ceiling of West Side apartments and stole property from the businesses once inside.

Police said the burglars targeted businesses in the 1000-block of North Cicero Avenue between 9:30 p.m. and 8:25 a.m. on Nov. 29 or 30, in the 5500-block of West Van Buren Street between 11 p.m. and 9 a.m. on Nov. 30 or Dec. 1 and in the 5400-block of West Harrison Street between 9:30 p.m. and 9:25 a.m. on Dec. 10 or 11.

Authorities have not released a description of the suspects.
