CHICAGO (WLS) -- Chicago police are investigating after a teenage boy was sexually abused in a parking garage on the city's Near North Side.

Police say the incident took place shortly after 5:30 p.m. Monday. The busy parking garage is attached to a high-rise apartment building in the 100-block of West Chestnut.

Police say a man began talking to the 14-year-old boy and eventually lured him into the parking garage stairwell, where he exposed himself to the boy.

The boy was able to get away and call police. Residents say the boy does not live in the building, and he may have been walking in the area.

Although it is generally safe, neighbors said the public garage has had its share of problems in the past, and strangers are often seen in and around it.

The building does have security cameras that we are told may have clearly captured the alleged suspect's face. Interpark, the company that owns the garage, did not wish to comment.

Police said the suspect was wearing a red hat, a red shirt and a red zip-up hoodie. He also has a scar across his nose and a goatee.

Police are asking anyone with information to contact Area Central detectives at 312-747-8380.
