Police warn Jefferson Park residents of garage burglaries

CHICAGO (WLS) -- The Chicago Police Department issued a community alert Thursday to warn Jefferson Park residents about a string of garage burglaries that occurred in the area.

There have been six reported garage burglaries since July 7th. In each of these incidents, unknown offenders gained entry to a garage by forcibly kicking or prying open the overhead or side door and windows, police said.

Three of the six burglaries occurred in the 7000-block of West Henderson Street and two others occurred in the 3400-block of North Nottingham Ave, according to police.

Victims reported stolen construction tools, bicycles, lawn equipment, and compressors and radio speakers.
