Police warn of armed robberies in New City, West Side

CHICAGO (WLS) -- Chicago police are warnings about strings of armed robberies in two parts of the city.

In the past two weeks, robbers have held up three people in the New City neighborhood.

Authorities said several men targeted people who were alone, showed a handgun and demanded property near West 52nd and South Justine streets around 6:10 p.m. on Dec. 15, near West 52nd and South Laflin streets around 4:30 p.m. on Dec. 18 and near West 52nd Street and South Ashland Avenue around 12:20 a.m. on Dec. 24.

And the other warning is on the West Side. Two robberies were reported in the past week and in each case, the robbers were in a black sedan.

Police said people should be on guard and report anything suspicious.
