Woman secretly calls 911 during terrifying ride across Houston

HOUSTON -- A scary ordeal of came to a peaceful end for one Houston woman this morning.

According to police, the woman had gotten into a car with a man she knew so the two of them could go have breakfast. But then the man apparently told the woman that he was going to drive to Austin instead.

While in the car, according to police, the woman managed to call 911. She gave dispatchers the approximate location of where they were going without alerting the man driving.

Precinct 5 deputy constables were able to stop the car without incident. The woman was unharmed.

She was driven home. The man, however, has been taken into custody.

Police say he will be charged with unlawful restraint.
