Woman sexually assaulted in Douglas Park after asking man for directions, police say

CHICAGO (WLS) -- Chicago police are searching for a man who sexually assaulted a woman in Douglas Park after she asked him for directions.

The 33-year-old woman was walking south on Kedzie Avenue near West 19th Street on the West Side around 11:30 p.m. Monday and asked a man for directions to get home. Police said he told her to walk east through Douglas Park and followed her.

Police said he allegedly grabbed the victim and put something against the back of her head, which she thought was a weapon, and sexually assaulted her before running off.

The suspect is described as an African American man between 25 and 35 years old. He is about 5 ft. 9 in. with a thin build, brown eyes, black hair and clean shaven.
