Woman sexually assaulted at gunpoint on jog in Marquette Park, police say

CHICAGO (WLS) -- Police are investigating the armed sexual assault of a 19-year-old woman out for a run in the city's Marquette Park neighborhood.

The woman was jogging just north of Marquette Park in the 6500-block of South Artesian Avenue just after 12 a.m. Wednesday, when police said she was approached by a man she didn't know.

Police said he allegedly pulled out a gun, forced the woman into a gangway and sexually assaulted her.

A community alert released by police describe the suspect as an African American man, between 5' 1" and 5' 3" tall and 140-160 lbs. The victim said his face was hidden by the hood of the black sweatshirt he was wearing, which had letters on the front.
