MICHIGAN CITY, Ind. (WLS) -- The man who shot and killed a fellow Purdue University student earlier this year was found dead in his prison cell.

Cody Cousins, 24, was pronounced death of apparent suicide after he was found unresponsive in his single cell in Michigan City Tuesday night, officials said.

Investigators said Cousins killed 21-year-old Andrew Boldt in a Purdue classroom on January 21, 2014.

He was sentenced to 65 years in prison after pleading guilty.
