Oak Street Beach racial confrontation caught on video

CHICAGO (WLS) -- A confrontation at Oak Street Beach this week is creating a lot of discussion on Facebook.

Raquel Bolton says she started recording the video after a woman used the N-word after her children splashed her, then defended her right to use that word.

"Of course you haven't graduated and you don't know the Constitution of the United States and what it says," the woman said in the video.

"Of what? That you can just walk around calling somebody a [expletive]?" Bolton asks the woman.

"It's called free speech in America. Right to free speech. Look it up," the woman responds.

On her Facebook page, Bolton said the woman used the N-word three times. The mom says she asked the woman to stop yelling at her kids and said she'd call the police.

"It surprised me because now it's 2015 and people are still really that racist. You know, especially to get mad at children for splashing water and she was at the beach," Bolton said.

Facebook originally removed the video, claiming it did not meet the site's community guidelines.

Bolton reposted it and it has been viewed more than 500,000 times.
