CHICAGO (WLS) -- Reverend Jesse Jackson spoke Saturday in Chicago, saying the shootings involving police officers need to stop.

"Police should not kill unarmed people, people should not kill police. People and police, we both need each other, we need each other," he said.

Rev. Jackson organized a rally for Dontre Hamilton, who was shot and killed by a Milwaukee Police officer after a struggle in April.

The department fired Officer Christopher Manney in October, but prosecutors decided not to file any charges, saying he acted in self-defense.

Hamilton's family says he suffered from schizophrenia.

"Killing an unarmed black man is not justifiable, killing a man for resting in the park is not justifiable, we stand with all the families," said Nate Hamilton, Dontre's brother.

Federal investigators are reviewing whether police violated Hamilton's civil rights.
