BEACH PARK, Ill. (WLS) -- A semi-truck driver was cited in a school bus crash that injured several children in north suburban Beach Park Wednesday afternoon.

The bus appeared to be sandwiched between two semis in an intersection. Police said the semi-truck driver rear-ended the bus.

The crash occurred just after 3 p.m. Lake County officials say the crash happened along Green Bay Road near Major Avenue.

Nine students were injured in the crash, but none sustained life-threatening injuries.

The bus was carrying more than 50 students from Kenneth Murphy School in Beach Park. The injured were taken to Vista East and Vista West hospitals.

The bus is from Durham School Services in Beach Park. It remained upright, and minor damage could be seen on the rear.

Multiple municipalities sent crews to the scene. The uninjured students were taken back to the school by another bus, where they were picked up by their parents.
