Tower construction begins at Loop's Block 37

CHICAGO (WLS) -- Construction barricades are up this weekend around Block 37 in the Loop.

Earlier this week, the developers of the shopping mall announced they got initial permits to build a 34-story residential tower.

It will go on the State Street side and would be built on top of the existing five-story building.

Developers say the building will have an outdoor pool, fitness center and rooftop spa.
