Two years later, still no answers in Rachel Galbreath's murder

SOUTH HOLLAND, Ill. (WLS) -- It's been two years since 33-year-old Rachel Galbreath was killed. Two years since she was found, savagely beaten to death inside her South Holland apartment on the first floor of a two-unit house. And her killer is still out there.

"I feel as if nothing is being done. Or everything has been exhausted," says her father, Mark Richards.

Family and friends gathered in front of her former home on Saturday to remind people of her. They shared stories of Rachel, then walked from her former apartment to the dog grooming salon where she used to work, carrying pictures and signs.

"We come out here on a somewhat frequent basis, canvassing the area, asking people if they have seen anything. Anything unusual between the evening of the evening of the 8th, the morning of the 9th, 2014," Mark says.

Those who knew her say Galbreath, who grew up in South Holland, never had it easy. Not in her personal life, spending several years in a tumultuous relationship she got out of just before her death, and not financially either.

"She got to the point where she couldn't afford shampoo, she couldn't afford laundry detergent. She went out and learned how to make it and just bettered her life that way. I envied her so much as to how strong she could be and what she went through," says her sister Kelsey Richards.

Over the last two years the lead investigator on the case has changed a few times and the evidence has been retested, but police say at this point there is no physical evidence that links any one person to the murder.
