CHICAGO (WLS) -- Governor Pat Quinn signed legislation Saturday to support farmers markets in Illinois.

Quinn signed the bill at the 61st Street Farmers Market in the Woodlawn neighborhood.

The governor says the new law will create uniform, statewide standards to regulate farmers' markets and help increase protections for consumers who shop locally.

The bill requires vendors to inform consumers of the origin of specialty crops or raw agricultural products.
