United Express jet flying from Chicago struck by lightning

CHICAGO (WLS) -- A United Airlines Express Jet plane flying from Chicago to Charleston, S.C., Monday was struck by lightning during the flight, an Express Jet spokesperson confirmed. The plane was diverted to Columbia, S.C. and landed safely.

There were 41 passengers and three crew members on board and no reports of injuries. The passengers were taken by ground transportation to Charleston.
