The person has been identified that was killed after an accident involving a bus carrying members of the Lehigh University Crew Team and a car in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.

BETHLEHEM, Pa. -- Police have identified the driver of a car who was killed in a crash involving a bus from Lehigh University on Tuesday night.

Rodney Dale Sigley Jr., 28, of Bethlehem and formerly of Quakertown, was pronounced dead at the scene of the wreck in Bethlehem, Pa.

An autopsy is expected to take place later on Wednesday.

In a statement Tuesday night, Lehigh University says 18 students from the men's and women's crew team were on the bus at the time of the accident.

A majority of the students were transported to two of Lehigh Valley Hospital's campuses, most with minor injuries. All of the students, along with the bus driver, have been treated and released.

The accident happened shortly before 6:00 p.m. Tuesday on Route 22 near the Schoenersville Road exit in Hanover Township.

State police tell Action News that the car involved had been subjected to a traffic stop just prior to the crash. However, they did not say what led to the stop.

Lehigh University says the Dean of Students personnel and members of the athletic department assisted the students.

"Our thoughts are with the students and their families, as well as the other individuals who were involved in this tragic circumstance," the statement read.

The accident closed Route 22 between Airport Road and Schoenersville Road.
