CHICAGO (WLS) -- A Chicago Park District truck is completely submerged in Lake Michigan near Oak Street and Lake Shore Drive.

Police said the vehicle was on an icy section of the Lakefront Trail when it suddenly started sliding into the water just off Oak Street Beach around 10:30 a.m. Friday.

The driver managed to get out before the truck went into the lake. He was checked out at Northwestern Memorial Hospital as a precaution.

Police said no one was inside the vehicle at the time. No injuries were reported.

Officials have temporarily closed the icy section of the bike path.

Crews are expected to remove the truck Saturday morning, which is sitting in about 10 feet of water.
