Vernon Hills man accused of texting lewd photo to 12-year-old girl

VERNON HILLS, Ill. (WLS) -- A north suburban man is charged with sexual exploitation of a child after he allegedly texted a lewd photo to a 12-year-old girl.

John Schraffenberger, 24, is charged with sexual exploitation of a child, according to Vernon Hills police. Missouri authorities contacted police in Vernon Hills after he allegedly sent an inappropriate photo to a 12-year-old Missouri girl.

A Vernon Hills police officer then posed as a child and texted with Schraffenberger, which led to his arrest.

Schraffenberger was released on bond. Police in Vernon Hills are asking the public to contact them if they know anyone who had inappropriate communication with Schraffenberger.
