LOS ANGELES -- A motorcyclist who called out a driver for texting in West Hollywood was allegedly run over by the same driver moments later in an apparent road rage crash, he says.

Samuel Ayres recorded the whole incident on his helmet camera.

Ayres said the problem started at a red light in West Hollywood, where he saw a nearby driver on his phone.

"It's not an acceptable thing to do. It's against the law," said Ayres, who admits he could have phrased things better. But he said that doesn't excuse what happened next.

"It's not my fault that he decided to lose his mind and drive like a crazy person," he said.

Ayres said as he drove on, the motorist tailed him, driving erratically. Ayres tried to get out of the way, but he said the driver swerved right into him at La Cienega and Santa Monica boulevards.

"He saw me. He knew I was there," Ayres said.

The driver didn't stop, but an eyewitness came to Ayres' aid.

Ayres said he suffered a concussion and fractured his shoulder and hurt his foot.

Nationwide in the last 15 years, 1,500 people were injured or killed in road rage incidents.

Ayers' helmet camera captured the driver's license plate.

Investigators were able to track down the owner of the car, who claimed he wasn't driving the vehicle at the time of the incident. Now, police are looking for the other driver.
