Video of 'El Chapo' raid released

The mission to nab Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman in the pre-dawn on Friday was called Operation: Black Swan. It was anything but a glide in the park.

The firefight between special ops commandos from the Mexican Navy and El Chapo's security force was ferocious. Video of the raid was released on Monday.

Intel indicated that five operatives would be inside the house when 17 troopers entered the seaside home in Mexico where the drug lord was hiding out.

Instead there were 12, one of whom tried to fire a rocket propelled grenade at them. However, a marine shot that weapon out of the guard's hands.

Five El Chapo guards died, including one who fell off the roof, in the 15-minute raid.

El Chapo was caught outside the house in a sewer.

Monday afternoon, he is now back inside Mexico's highest security prison -- the same one where he managed to escape six months ago. This time, he's being held in solitary.

The Mexican attorney general said it could take up to a year to extradite El Chapo to the U.S.

Academy award winning actor Sean Penn questioned the drug lord for Rolling Stone magazine three months ago. The interview led to his recapture, according to officials.

El Chapo was trying to land a movie deal about his life, shopping the idea around to Hollywood producers and actors, and recording a short video.

Mexican authorities were tracking Penn during his visits with El Chapo.

U.S. officials said Penn would unlikely face any charges related to his meetings with the drug lord because he did not harbor a fugitive or bankroll his activities.

However, some challenge his journalistic ethics, especially allowing El Chapo to have editorial review of the piece before it was published in Rolling Stone which not permitted at traditional news organizations.

On the Golden Globes red carpet Sunday night, some celebrities reacted to the Penn-El Chapo connection.

"I don't want to throw any other actors under the bus, but I know a lot of very, very serious actors and filmmakers who have been having meetings like this forever," said actor Matt Damon.

Actress Patricia Arquette said: "It's incredibly fascinating as an artist."
