Water restored to nearly all residents after Dixmoor water main break

DIXMOOR, Ill. (WLS) -- Residents in south suburban Dixmoor lost water service on Thursday evening after a water main break on Spaulding Avenue and 143rd Street.

Dixmoor police said water was cut off to the entire village on a rolling basis.

"The infrastructure is very old, and when you get cold weather like this, the pipes pop. We had three breaks today," said Fitzgerald Roberts, Dixmoor village trustee.

The water had to be turned off to repair the main, but service has now been restored to nearly all residents.
