SKOKIE, Ill. (WLS) -- The West Nile virus has been detected in north suburban Skokie.

The Skokie Health Department says it found the virus in a batch of tested mosquitoes.

Residents are urged to take precautions against mosquitoes that may carry the virus by staying indoors at dusk and dawn, wearing insect repellent and eliminating standing water.

So far this year, there have been no human cases of West Nile in Skokie.
