Wheeling man killed in Lake Geneva snowmobile accident, police say

LINN, Wisc. (WLS) -- A man was killed and another hospitalized with hypothermia after a snowmobile accident on Lake Geneva in Wisconsin, police said.

Police responded to the accident around 9:02 p.m. Sunday, where two men in their 50s were operating two snowmobiles on the lake when they encountered open water, officials said. The open water was north of Williams Bay, south of Lake Geneva Yacht Club and extended west towards Fontana.

Both men were transported to a local hospital where one, who officials say is from Wheeling, Ill., was pronounced dead.

No other details have been released.
