OGLESBY, Ill. (WLS) -- A 43-year-old Waukegan woman was injured in a fall at Starved Rock State Park, which is about 100 miles southwest of Chicago, on Sunday, police say.

The woman was hiking above French Canyon when she slipped and fell about 40 feet. She struck a bunch of trees, which broke her fall and kept her from falling an additional 20 feet.

She was air-lifted to St. Francis Hospital in Peoria in serious condition. Officials said alcohol does appear to be a factor in the fall.
