Woman, 78, injured in Northwest Side fire

CHICAGO (WLS) -- An elderly woman was critically injured in a fire on Chicago's Northwest Side, officials said.

Flames broke out on the first floor of a three-flat in the 1500-block of North Mayfield Avenue Friday morning.

Firefighters were on the scene around 8:30 a.m. The fire was extinguished about 30 minutes later.

A 78-year-old woman was taken to West Suburban Hospital in critical condition.

No other details have been released.
