CHICAGO (WLS) -- A judge found a 92-year-old woman not guilty of battery charges in connection with a deadly shooting involving a Chicago police officer.

In April, Hazel Jones Huff and her husband were shot by their next door neighbor, who is a Chicago police officer. Jones' husband reportedly shot at the officer's wife first, wounding her. Hazel Jones-Huff's attorney says she was shot as she attempted to comfort her husband, who lay on the ground bleeding from several gunshot wounds. Her husband Joe Huff, 86, was pronounced dead on the scene.

The police report says the officer fired at Jones Huff after she ignored his orders not to reach for a gun. She says she's thankful the judge ruled in her favor on Monday.

"I'm blessed. I thank the lord for being here," said Jones Huff.

The judge also threw out an aggravated assault charge against her.
