NEW YORK -- Police in Brooklyn are searching for a man wanted in an attempted rape.

It happened on Saturday, August 1st at 11:20 p.m. near Leonard and Bayard streets in Greenpoint.

A 24-year-old woman was walking when a man ran up to her, grabbed her around the neck, and began to fondle her.

The suspect then told the woman that he was going to have sex with her.

The victim pleaded with the suspect and offered him money not to harm her.

He agreed and took her to a nearby ATM where she took out $20 and gave it to the suspect who then ran away.

The woman was not injured.
