Authorities said this woman took a ring from a woman lying in repose at a funeral home in Odessa, Texas.

ODESSA, Texas (WLS) -- Police in Odessa, Texas, say a woman has been arrested and charged, accused of stealing a ring from a woman's lifeless body at a funeral home.

The suspect has been identified as 41-year-old Kalynn Homfeld, KOSA-TV reports.

Odessa police say they responded Saturday (4/9) to Sunset Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home in reference to a theft from a deceased person the previous day.

The investigation revealed that on Friday, a woman stole a ring off the body of a woman named Lois Hicks and fled.

Authorities said Homfeld took a ring from a dead woman lying in repose. According to KCBD-TV, family members said the woman's hand was damaged when the ring was removed.

Authorities said the suspect fled the scene in a red or maroon four-door Saturn.
