CHICAGO (WLS) -- Pebbles Miller, 28, has been sentenced for conning an elderly man out of $95,000, officials said.

Miller claimed she needed the money for cancer surgery, receiving large sums of money over a five-month period from an 80-year-old man, officials said.

The victim met Miller on various occasions, each time giving her a cashier's check after their initial meeting at a gas station in June 2012, officials said. The victim contacted Catholic Charities to see if the organization could help Miller, after which organization officials contacted Chicago police, officials said.

Miller was identified by both the victim as well as witnesses at currency exchanges where the checks were cashed, officials said. She has been sentenced to five years in prison.
