Woman's son charged in Merrillville stabbing death

MERRILLVILLE, Ind. (WLS) -- The son of an elderly northwest Indiana woman has now been charged in her stabbing death that put a hospital on lock-down.

Police say 60-year-old Rodney Louis Dickinson walked into Methodist Hospital South Lake in Merrillville Friday morning and stabbed to death 80-year-old Margarine Haywood in her hospital room. The hospital was put on lock-down after the stabbing.

When police went to Haywood's home in Gary they found the body of Mrs. Haywood's 88-year-old husband, James.
