ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill. (WLS) -- What happens to retired police dogs? In virtually every case, they live out their days with their police handlers. We illustrate this through Shane, a retired 9-year-old German shepherd who lives with Officer Phil Mazur and family. Shane has numerous health problems, but stands at the ready when his boss leaves for work. Getting used to being retired was a tough transition for Shane.
