A Wisconsin sheriff deputy came to the aid of an eight point buck who got its antlers stuck in a hammock

MARINETTE CO., Wis. -- A sheriff's deputy in Wisconsin came to the aid of a deer who got stuck in a hammock.

Jim Hruska says he couldn't believe his eyes when he spotted a deer struggling to get free from a hammock.

"Watched it for awhile and thought maybe it was going to pull itself out, looked like it was getting worse and worse and we decided to call 911," Hruska told ABC affiliate WBAY.

Deputy Jesse Parker was called to the scene and began working to figure out how to free the eight point buck.

"Initially I wasn't quite sure how to approach it, but once he broke loose from the other tree that made life a lot easier cause I just walked him around until he tied himself up to the tree tight and then I was able to hold him there," Parker said.

Cell phone video then shows the deputy using a knife to cut the deer loose. Parker, who is an avid hunter, says he's glad he was able to help.

"My thought process was he could be somebody's first buck, he could be a kid's first deer and I wanted to give that opportunity to somebody else. I didn't want to see him go down like that," Parker said.
