NOGALES, Ariz. (WLS) -- Animal Control rescued a dog stranded by rushing water along a swollen creek in Nogales, Ariz., where the National Weather Service has issued a Flash-Flood Warning.

The dog was scared and wet, but not hurt, according to a vet that checked him out Wednesday night.

The large wash that cuts through the middle of the city was close to overflowing. Mayor Arturo Garino said it receded from an at-risk level of 12 feet to between 5 and 6 feet.

Wednesday marked the second time in less than two weeks the area has dealt with widespread flooding, as a Pacific storm slammed much of southern Arizona and Odile weakened over Mexico.

Garino said officials initially thought they would have to evacuate two nearby trailer parks where about 100 families live. However, several inches of water receded from the major street, and the city's public works department was able to clear the road.
