Miniature horses cheer runners at Trot-A-Thon

LAKE IN THE HILLS, Ill. (WLS) -- The all-volunteer non-profit group Mane in Heaven invites runners to the Silver Linings Equestrian Center for their 4th Annual 5K Trot-A-Thon!

The race and family fun run/walk takes place at 8:30 a.m. on Sunday, October 2nd in Lake of the Hills. The event raises money for Mane in Heaven's mission to provide miniature therapy horses to disabled and able-bodied children and adults. All of the money raised will provide boarding, food, supplies, veterinarian bills, and transportation costs for the horses. The goal is to raise $20,000 this year to pay to add a new mini bus to the Mane in Heaven fleet, which transports up to 4 horses to locations around the area. Jodie Diegel and
