CHICAGO (WLS) -- About 200 people and their pets gathered Sunday to raise awareness about puppy mills.

They marched along Michigan Avenue, for the National Puppy Mill Awareness Day Parade.

City clerk Susana Mendoza served as the grand marshal.

Earlier this year, she partnered with the Puppy Mill Project to pass legislation banning the sale of puppy mill pets at city pet stores.
