Plainfield mourns the loss of veteran police dog

PLAINFIELD, Ill. (WLS) -- The Plainfield Police Department is mourning the loss of one of its own with the passing of K9 Aron.

Officer Brian Wagner had been the dog's handler since the two bonded at the Landheim Law Enforcement K9 Training Center in Indiana in 2006 and quickly developed a bond known only to a select few in the law enforcement community.

During their shift on Saturday night in the southwest suburb, K9 Aron became ill and subsequently died of natural causes.
