VIDEO: Baby giraffe meets family for 1st time

Royal Oak, Mich. (WLS) -- A baby giraffe met her whole family for the first time at the Detroit Zoo. Zawadi was just born 18 days ago at the zoo in Michigan.

She was shy at first, when her father, Jabari, and brother, Mpenzi, joined her in their exhibit. She's had her mother, Kivuli, to herself since birth, WXYZ reports.

But she was gliding across the field with them all in no time.

Zawadi was more than 5 feet tall when she was born. Zoo officials said she will soon sprout up just like her 2-year-old brother.

Zoo guests can also feed the whole family for only $5. Up to 50 people can participate in feeding time, which is scheduled twice a day, every day.
