A pig in Hawaii thinks she's a horse, according to animal handlers

MOLUKEIA, HI -- A feral pig named Wilma is a local celebrity on the Hawaiian island of Oahu for her relationship with the horses, KITV reports.

The feral pig trots along in lock-step with horses at the Hawaii Polo Club. The pig is believed to have left or been separated from her family herd in the wild. She crossed a road, one local says, and started hanging out with the horses -- who don't seem to mind her company.

Locals suspect, in Wilma's mind, she's not much different.

"I think she thinks she's a horse," handler Sarah Keawe said. "You know, this is her family. This is what she has left."

To keep Wilma safe from hunters, she's marked with a small harness. However, locals are sure to point out, she roams free - never leashed or locked up. And while she's small now, she could grow to weigh some 300 pounds.
