ABC?s Ann Compton was the first female network reporter assigned to cover the White House on a full-time basis in 1974.

CHICAGO (WLS) -- ABC's Ann Compton was the first female network reporter assigned to cover the White House on a full-time basis in 1974.

The Chicagoan and graduate of Winnetka's New Trier High School retired recently after more than 40 years of traveling the globe.

Monday night, Compton will be inducted into the Illinois Broadcasters Association's Hall of Fame.
