CHICAGO (WLS) -- Less than a week after losing in Chicago's first mayoral runoff, Cook County Commissioner Jesus "Chuy" Garcia spoke Saturday about his future.

"We became the voice of the voiceless, we touched so many thousands of young people who had found local politics irrelevant," he said. "They became engaged in this campaign, and as a result we've made history and helped change the face of the Chicago City Council."

Garcia thanked those who voted for him at the Rainbow PUSH headquarters.

He said for the city to move forward the inner-city violence must come to an end and said he will continue to fight to raise the minimum wage.
