Hillary Clinton attends Quinn fundraiser in Chicago
Former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton is attending a fundraiser for Gov. Pat Quinn while on a visit to Chicago.

CHICAGO (WLS) -- For the second day in a row, Gov. Pat Quinn is hoping some political star-power will help his re-election campaign, as former Secretary of State and First Lady Hillary Clinton took time to appear with Quinn in between speaking engagements Wednesday.

She appeared before the Economic Club of Chicago on Wednesday evening. Clinton joined Quinn at a Loop Barnes and Noble store in the afternoon to greet prospective voters, and for Clinton to sign books and to order two fancy cups to go.

To avoid an even bigger crowd, the photo op location at DePaul University's Loop campus was kept secret for most of the day.

Earlier, Clinton spoke to the Medical Technology Convention underway at McCormick Place, saying nothing about her possible presidential aspirations. But she did implore the attendees to use their products to help the fight the expanding Ebola epidemic.

"We know that we're in a real fight, a real fight first and foremost in West Africa but increasing in Europe, the United States, around the world," she said.

Fewer than 24 hours earlier, First Lady Michelle Obama appeared at UIC to support the governor's re-election.

Meanwhile, at the Bilandic Building Wednesday, the Legislative Audit Commission held its first day of hearings on the Quinn administration's 2010 anti-violence program. Republicans, who've called the program the governor's political slush fund, demand a full accounting of its $55 million price tag.

"The taxpayers of Illinois are demanding that the government be good stewards of their money," said Sen. Jason Barickman, a republican from Bloomington.

Republican candidate for governor Bruce Rauner's spokesman issued a statement on the Clinton visit.

"Voters know this election will come down to a choice between another corrupt governor under investigation with Pat Quinn or the hope of bringing back Illinois under Bruce Rauner."

Clinton is expected to speak at the Fairmont beginning at 7:30 p.m.
