CHICAGO (WLS) -- In the race for mayor in Chicago, the controversy over noise at O'Hare Airport could cost Mayor Rahm Emanuel some key votes.
"It's just been awful to feel like your neighborhood is being thrown under the bus," said Lisa Ziems, a 45th Ward resident.
Zeims joined a Jesus "Chuy" Garcia rally Friday afternoon. The 45th Ward homeowner is urging neighbors to vote early against Rahm Emanuel because the mayor has not responded to their complaints about jet noise caused by new O'Hare field flight paths.
"Voters want to get out there and show as early as they can that they are against this mayor and against these flight paths," Ziems said.
"Can we provide everything that's being requested? Maybe not. But what's important is to engage them," Garcia said.
The mayor said he had met with elected officials from the affected areas and passed on the complaints to federal officials.
"My goal is to take those voices to make sure that the FAA resolves this issue to everybody's liking," Emanuel said.
Early voting is heavy in the 45th and 41st wards, along those controversial flight paths. In fact, the early vote in the 41st Ward is highest in the city. Political consultant maze Jackson says the mayor is no easy winner on the Northwest Side.
"We can't just say hey, because its north of Madison that that all goes to the mayor, because that's really not the case," said Maze Jackson, Intelligence Group.
And Ald. John Arena - in a runoff but neutral in the mayor's race - says Garcia has a real shot to win the 45th Ward.
"I think he does. He's coming out and talking to people and addressing a key issue that's part of this campaign," Ald. Arena said.
