WHEATON, Ill. (WLS) -- Congresswoman and new mother Tammy Duckworth was honored Thursday for her work on behalf of her fellow veterans.
The Illinois Department of Veterans Affairs presented her with the Abraham Lincoln Veteran Champion Award.
It's given to those whose service to veterans and their communities goes above and beyond.
Duckworth was a helicopter pilot in Iraq. She also served as the director of the Illinois Department of Veterans Affairs.
