OMAHA, Neb. (WLS) -- Archbishop Blase Cupich was honored in Nebraska Saturday at a celebrated Mass in his native city of Omaha.

Cupich led the sermon at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church.

The ceremony raised funds for the Archdiocese of Omaha.

"Going back to Chicago now after the first of the year, we have a number of projects moving forward, particularly as we prepare for the senate of bishops," he said.

Cupich participated in a reception following his sermon.

The archbishop assumed his new role in Chicago last month when Francis Cardinal George retired.
