Ride for Hope battles ovarian cancer

SCHAUMBURG, Ill. -- The second annual Ride for Hope is returning to Schaumburg on July 30, 2016. The motorcycle tour raises money and awareness for Ovarian Cancer. About 22,000 women receive a diagnosis of ovarian cancer each year. Sadly, nearly 15,000 will succumb to the disease. It's the fifth deadliest cancer among women. Age, obesity, reproductive history, and family history all play a role in women's risk factors.

The 90-mile Ride for Hope begins in Schaumburg, briefly stops in Sycamore for refreshments, and then returns to St. Peter Lutheran Church's picnic grove for an after-party. You can register here. The fee is $30 per rider and $30 per passenger. The first Ride for Hope raised $25,600 to benefit the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition. Susan Tullo, the Treasurer for the Ride for Hope, and a six-month Uterine Cancer survivor, joined ABC 7 Live from Schaumburg to talk about the ride, and how to save lives through early detection.
