GLENCOE, Ill. (WLS) -- There's something new in the air at Chicago's Botanic Garden Tuesday morning and it is not pleasant. A corpse flower is starting to bloom - and it stinks.

This rare flower, named Sprout, produces an odor that's been compared to rotting meat.

The bloom cycle started at 11 p.m. Monday. It only lasts between 24 and 36 hours.

The botanic garden opened early Tuesday so people could get a look.
