Kohl's to stay open for 100 hours
Time is running out to finish holiday shopping. Kohl's stores will be open for 100 hours leading up to Christmas, hoping to lure in last-minute customers.

CHICAGO (WLS) -- Time is running out to finish holiday shopping. Kohl's stores will be open for 100 hours leading up to Christmas, hoping to lure in last-minute customers. The 100-hour shopping spree begins at 6 a.m. Friday and ends at 6 p.m. on Christmas Eve.

Rodney Essex, a Kohl's employee, said if the next few days are anything like they were during the Thanksgiving shopping period, it is going to be hectic.

"Black Friday was amazing. We opened at like six. There was a swarm of people that came in and we had a line in like five minutes. It was crazy," Essex said.

Kohl's is just one of many retailers in the Chicago area extending hours leading up to the holiday.

Toys 'R' Us will stay open for 39 hours, from 6 a.m. Tuesday to 9 p.m. on Christmas Eve. Target stores will stay open until midnight on certain days and offer same-day pickup. JC Penney will also have extended holiday hours and plans another round of door-buster deals this weekend.

If you prefer to shop online, Amazon is offering same-day delivery on Christmas Eve for orders placed by 10 a.m. for customers in 12 metro areas, including Chicago.

Saturday, or "Super Saturday," is expected to be the busiest shopping day of the year, with several days leading up to Christmas falling into the top 10 busiest shopping days for 2014 as well. Super Saturday competes with Black Friday each year to be the day that brings in the most shoppers. This year, it's expected to come out on top.
