ABC7 hosts annual Duke Classic Charity Golf Tournament

HOMER GLEN, Ill. (WLS) -- ABC 7 is keeping the memory of beloved friend and colleague, photographer Mike "Duke" Dukewich, alive by organizing the third annual Duke Classic Golf Tournament.

Dukewich passed away suddenly in September 2012. The charity golf outing supports two causes near and dear to Mike's heart: the Greater Chicago Food Depository and the Wounded Warrior Project.

Being a camera man for more than 35 years at ABC, Mike showed great empathy and told such emotional stories when he spoke about going to cover a story about a family whose son or daughter had been lost or disabled in our ongoing conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan.

The third annual Duke Classic is on Saturday, July 18 at the Old Oak Country Club in suburban Homer Glen.

ABC 7 meteorologist Tracy Butler spearheads the event each year. She joined ABC7 live from the golf course before tee-off with Kate Maehr of the Greater Chicago Food Depository and Jeremiah Pauley of the Wounded Warrior Project.
