CHICAGO (WLS) -- The largest single day of volunteering in Chicago is coming back on June 25, 2016. The Chicago Cares Serve-a-Thon brings together thousands of volunteers for a restoring classrooms, parks, and preparing hot meals for seniors.
Collectively, the volunteers donate 20,000 service hours to make Chicago beautiful. Serve-a-thon activities will culminate with a volunteer appreciation party at Daley Plaza in the afternoon, which will include music, refreshments and other activities. Volunteers can sign up as an individual or build a team of friends to work together as part of the Serve-a-thon. The deadline to register is June 16, 2016. The CEO of Chicago Cares, Jenne Myers, sat down with ABC 7 Eyewitness news to discuss all the ways the annual Serve-a-Thon helps the community.
