Chicago radio broadcast urges residents to 'Put the Guns Down'

CHICAGO (WLS) -- Several Chicago radio stations are urging residents to help stop the violence in their neighborhoods.

The "Put the Guns Down" radio broadcast aired from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday night, commercial free.

WGCI, WVON and V103 were just some of the stations that participated in the simulcast.

Deejays encouraged listeners to share their experiences and offer solutions to stop the gun violence.

ABC7 Eyewitness News reporter Evelyn Holmes moderated the two-hour program, along with First Deputy Al Wysinger from the Chicago Police Department.
